Vegan Fish Sauce

This vegan fish sauce is my new go-to when a recipe calls for fish sauce! It is so fresh, free from preservatives, colours and other chemical additives, and tastes surprisingly fish-like! The original inspiration for this recipe came from a beautiful vegetarian Vietnamese cook book by Uyen Luu. I’ve modified it to reduce sodium and maximise yield.

To find fresh Vietnamese Fish Mint, you may need to head to a specialty market, or find a way to grow it yourself! But it’s absolutely worth it for this recipe! I far prefer this as an ingredient to soy and coconut and I think you will too! This is a perfect option for anyone avoiding nuts/seeds and soy!

Try it for yourself and experiment with the reduction to find a depth of flavour you like best! I hope you enjoy it!
